Chief’s Talk from Marty ‘Wandering River” Krupar
Welcome to a new year of the Native Sons and Daughters Program. I hope you’ve all had a great summer. My name is Marty “Wandering River” Krupar. My son Austin “Slithering Snake”, and I have been in 2 Feathers for the past 4 years in the Chinook tribe. In the upcoming months I hope to get to know all of you, but please be patient, as I’m not very good at remembering names.
First, I’d like to thank Karl “Blue Lake” Satorius, last year’s Longhouse Chief and the current Sachem for his service. I’d also like to recognize Tim “Big Bear” Brensahan for his help in starting an Alumni Program last year. And one last “BIG THANK YOU” to Mark “Crazy Eagle” Denison for organizing the Duct Tape Festival clean up crews and leading the construction of our Award Winning “BEST USE OF DUCT TAPE” float. If you didn’t see it in the parade, it was a sight to behold. The peace sign above the tee pee rotated, while smoke billowed out the top. We had our members following behind carrying signs like: “Heck No, We Won’t Glue”, “Make Tape, Not War”, and “All You Need Is Tape”.
**ON-LINE REGISTRATION: Please take a few moments to renew your membership. I would like to encourage you to do so through on-line registration. The process is simple:
1) Go to the www.2feathers.org website
2) Under “Membership Information”, click “Online Registration” (Choose 2 Feathers Longhouse). This will take you to the National Longhouse Club Express site.
3) Click on ‘Member login” and enter your username and password. (There is a “forgot username and password” option, if needed.)
4) After you enter your username and password, in the top block on the left side under “welcome”, there will appear the word Renew. Click “renew”, and verify the information. Please remember to choose 2 Feathers Longhouse. The total cost should be $50.00 (this is $15 less than last year!). As I said in a previous e-mail, for any new member family that you refer, you will receive a rebate of $10.00 after the membership drive is over. Please have the new member tell us that they were referred by you.
