December 2008 Chief's Talk
Chief’s Talk from Dan “Big Big Wolf” Drellishak
Two Feathers Longhouse was well represented at the recent Ice Skating Outing held a few weeks ago with many members slipping and sliding the afternoon away… A few “first-timers” also took to the ice and had a great afternoon! You can see some of the action photos attached to this newsletter. Thanks goes out to the Miami Tribe who sponsored the December Ice Skating event held at the Rocky River Ice Rink.
Our annual swim event will be held on January 17th at the Westlake Recreation Center. This is our second time holding the event at this great facility. Please plan to join the group for a fun afternoon of frolicking in the water! See the flyer in this newsletter for more details.
Camp Fitch weekend is right around the corner! Dress in your woolies and bring your sleds to this “winter wonderland” of a weekend! All tribes should plan to have a snow snake-building meeting by mid-January so all that are planning to attend camp will have a chance to build and decorate a snow snake to race! We are planning on having the “unlimited” class again this year for the extreme enthusiasts! Could we see a reincarnation of the Anaconda this year??? See the rules and instructions included in this newsletter. In addition, don’t forget about your tribe centerpiece that should be displayed at your meal tables at camp. This could be another tribe meeting craft/activity idea. PS - While at camp, don’t forget to look for the HUGE steelhead trout in the small stream that runs next to the archery range!
The “Custom Patch” contest will also take place at Camp Fitch. This is a new tradition that was started this year at Camp Y-Noah and the winning design was made into a real patch that will be given to all members attending Camp Fitch. A blank entry form has been added to this newsletter to give all members a chance to get a head start on creating their unique design to be submitted at camp. The winning entry will again be made into a patch that will be distributed next fall at Camp Y-Noah.
Wishing you and your families a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Chief Big Wolf Dan Drellishak
